Robert Mangold: Print Catalogue Raisonné provides comprehensive documentation of the artist’s graphic work in an ongoing continuum.  For nearly five decades, Mangold has brought inventiveness, pictorial elegance, and pure skill to his printmaking endeavors, creating a body of work of lasting importance. The springboard for this project was Robert Mangold: Prints 1968-1998, a deluxe limited edition catalogue raisonné published in 2000 by Parasol Press Ltd. with an essay by Amy Baker-Sandback.  The research of the Parasol team--Sandback, Robert Feldman, and Francine Halvorsen -- was indispensable to this current project, and their catalogue research is incorporated into this online raisonne.  The breadth of Robert Mangold’s printmaking activity since 1998 inspired the effort to document his printed work in full. Prints from the period 1968-1998 carry the former Parasol catalogue raisonné designation “RM” followed by a Roman numeral in paranthesis.  Cataloguing is ongoing and new works will continue to be added and existing entries to be refined.

The Greeting Cards are intimately scaled images Mangold began in 1989 as holiday gifts for friends and family.   Hand-carved by the artist, the blocks were initially self-printed; later, as the Mangolds’ circle grew, printing was periodically completed at Simmelink/Sukimoto Editions and Pace Prints.  They are signed or initialed and dated, and printed in unnumbered series, often with color variations.  Prints from 1989-1998 are included in the original catalogue raisonne published by Parasol Press, Ltd., and the entirety of the Greeting Card images, including post-1998, are compiled on a dedicated page on the dropdown menu under Print Catalogue Raisonné.
